Kota Kita (KK) is a non-profit organization based in the Indonesian city of Surakarta (Solo) with expertise in urban planning and citizen participation in the design and development of cities. We bridge the dialogues between government and their constituencies by facilitating citizen participation and collaboration, influencing urban policies, encouraging open access to information, and providing civic education to empower urban citizens.
KK’s projects focuses around governance, inclusivity and climate change resilience. By leveraging an interdisciplinary team and design-driven approach to develop tools and methods, we strive for a shared-learning process between government and citizens. For almost a decade, KK has worked in more than 16 cities in Indonesia on a range of projects from small scale urban interventions, city-wide assessments to large-scale strategic planning and visioning. We have led and organized a number of events such as the annual Urban Social Forum ( https://urbansocialforum.or.id/ ) - a civil society-led Indonesian forum that brings together civil societies, practitioners and students that work towards improving cities.
