Accessibility

The intention of the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV) is to enable access to all users, independent of the device used to retrieve the site. Barrier-free design and programming is not the same as disabled-friendly or programming for the blind. All users profit from a barrier-free implementation as the access to a site and its content are optimized, irrespective of whether a graphic browser, screen reading system, search engine etc. is used.

The requirements of the VVBIT – Administrative Regulations on the Creation of Barrier-free Information Technology in Berlin (pdf in German, 18 KB) are principally fulfilled. Older PDF documents are only partially barrier-free for technical reasons. We understand barrier freedom as a continuing process and shall continue in the future to further review, modify and optimize the website.
