Dr. Marker is Senior consultant and project developer with over 30 years of experience in the field of environmental and resource management geared to land management, soil and groundwater protection and urban development, acting mainly in Latin America and Germany on behalf of international organizations such as German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), European Union and in the private sector.
Assisted regional and national governments in the implementation of policies and instruments focused on soil protection and contaminated site management in Brazil, Peru and Colombia, in long and midterm assignments as project director and main consultant by order of GIZ during approximately 12 years. Numerous short term assignments in the field of contaminated land and soil protection in Chile, Mexico, Venezuela. Co-founded and managed the Latin American Soil Protection network ReLASC
www.relasc.org during 4 years as its secretary in coordination with the principal environmental authorities and ministries in the region.
Advised local governments in Latin America on sustainable land use, urban and brownfield revitalization and mobility issues including pilot project implementation in the framework of international and inter municipal cooperation (UrbAl, GIZ and Engagement Global) as regional manager and consultant during more than 10 years.
Presently works in the field of sustainable mining and resource efficiency, on behalf on Projekt Consult/GFA Group and German Federal Environment Agency as well as EU. Worked as coordinator of research projects on exploration geology in the Philippines, Africa and Brazil during 12 years.
Developed training programs and courses in the above mentioned topics for private sector and regulators. Having a vast experience in private sector activities as director of a small consulting company he acted in the field of land management and soil investigation for private contractors.
