The Belo Horizonte City Hall is the political and administrative body of the capital of the State of Minas Gerais, which is the third largest Brazilian metropolis and the seventh in Latin America. With a municipal population of 2.5 million inhabitants, spread over 331 km² of area, it is the center of an urban agglomeration that houses 5.9 million people. Its objectives are to guarantee the effectiveness of subjective public rights, to promote the good of all, without distinction, to provide its inhabitants with living conditions compatible with human dignity, social justice and the common good, prioritizing the fulfillment of the demands of civil society, education, health, transportation, housing, supply, leisure and assistance.
