World Metropolitan Day

World Metropolitan Day is a Global Day of Celebration led by Metropolis and UN-Habitat.  The Day provides an occasion for all levels of local government –and their communities– to promote collective actions that help build more equitable, sustainable and prosperous metropolises.

The theme for 2021 is Resilience for all: creating caring metropolises beyond COVID-19.
The global pandemic has reinforced the importance of equitable and inclusive societies that place people at the centre of decision-making and reflect the diversity of experiences of our metropolitan spaces.

Join Metropolis and UN-Habitat for a series of virtual debates and activities during the first week of October culminating in an event on October 7 to exchange strategies on how to create more caring and resilient metropolitan spaces.

At the use platform, we celebrate the achievements of Metropolitan governments all year round! You can search the use database using SDG 16 or governance (topics) to learn more about projects and policies that demonstrate effective metropolitan governance around the world.

Join use in supporting the work of municipal governments by sharing your local experience with our global audience of citymakers.
