use launches the new interview series USE:POSITIONS. Senior pioneering city makers from our global community share their personal perspectives on current urban challenges and trends.

use is an inspiring knowledge platform showcasing innovative and promising approaches to sustainable urban development and connecting a global community of city makers.
USE:POSITIONS adds an interview format to the 370+ case studies from around the world featured on the platform. Senior city makers from our community - politicians, urban practitioners, municipal employees, academics, and researchers – will talk to our community members about their take on current urban trends and challenges in a new short and crisp format.
The interviewees will very briefly sketch out their field of work and then move on to share with us their biggest worries, as well as momentum creating ideas, impulses, and dynamics that inspire and motivate them to continue searching for solutions.
USE:POSITIONS will be forward looking, and the interviewees will focus on sketching out what they deem to be groundbreaking approaches that offer opportunities, some of them maybe unexpected, to positively transform urban realities in challenging times.
The first interviews in the series will be dedicated to reflecting on how Covid-19 affects urban development, thus putting the spotlight on the most pressing challenge currently faced by all cities. USE:POSITIONS asks which chances and opportunities can, despite the hardships and frustrations caused by the pandemic, offer progression pathways towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The first interviews will be published as a series of roughly 3-minute videos on the occasion and in the frame of the World Metropolitan Day on the 7th of October hosted by Metropolis & UN-Habitat.
Stay tuned and look forward to fellow city makers sharing their experiences, perspectives and insights.
