UCLG Learning offers a platform where new ideas and methodologies can be tested to help cities address challenges and opportunities. Specifically, UCLG peer-learning events foster the creation and dissemination of knowledge and resources for local and regional governments to achieve inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities.
The key objective of peer-learning is the transfer of knowledge, skills and experience from one municipality to others. This can entail technical assistance to solve specific municipal challenges, benchmarking to inspire change, or other forms of peer support.
During a peer-learning event, participants listen actively and share their stories, knowledge, and experiences.
Since the first peer learning event in Durban in 2011, UCLG Learning has documented and published the exchanges, good practices and lessons learnt in Peer-Learning Notes to make the acquired knowledge accessible for everybody. Topics include, Sustainable Urban Mobility & COVID-19, Climate Resilience and Urban Development, Local Citizenship & Migration and many more.
