The 2022 World Habitat Awards are open for entry

Inspirational projects and programmes that provide outstanding innovative and sustainable housing solutions are encouraged to enter the 2022 World Habitat Awards.

For over 35 years, the World Habitat Awards – run in partnership with UN-Habitat have celebrated and showcased pioneering approaches to housing challenges, providing
international recognition to exceptional projects and programmes.  In total, more than 360 have been recognised, each one transforming the lives of individuals, families and communities through housing.

David Ireland, Chief Executive of World Habitat, said:

“World Habitat’s mission is to find and celebrate the best housing practice from around the world and transfer those ideas and practices to places where they are needed most – to benefit people who really need them.

“Today’s world has many challenges and threats to people – whether it’s the effects of the climate emergency; wildfires and hurricanes; the financialisaton of housing pricing communities out of their homes; or COVID-19.  Keeping people safe and keeping communities together requires new ideas, different approaches and outstanding people and organisations. The World Habitat Awards can help bring those ideas and practices to wider recognition so they can help more people.

Two winners of the 2022 World Habitat Awards will receive a Gold Award and £10,000. There will also be Silver and Bronze Awards for other outstanding projects and programmes. In addition, Gold Award Winners will have the opportunity to share their approach to housing solutions through World Habitat’s exChange programme.

The application deadline is 14 March 2022.
