Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a global movement organized by WFF (World Wide Fund for Nature).  It is held annually in March and encourages citizens, communities and businesses to turn off electric lights for one hour (8.30 to 9.30 pm) as a symbol of commitment to the planet.

Earth Hour started as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and has become one of the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action to ensure the sustainability of our planet.

Every year hundreds of millions of people in more than 7,000 cities in over 190 countries take part by switching off for 60 minutes as a gesture of solidarity to show they care about our Earth’s future.

Earth Hour is supported by many public institutions, organisations and business around the world including the United Nations Environment Program.

You can also participate in the first Earth Hour Virtual Spotlight by following one of their social media channels on March 27.
