The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) serves as an inclusive platform for cities across the globe, as well as various associations, organizations, and research centres keen on exploring, exchanging ideas, and implementing participatory democracy practices at the local level. The primary objective is to strengthen the foundations of democracy within municipal governance. Since 2006, IOPD has worked in collaboration with United Cities Local Government (UCLG).
IOPD invites local and regional governments to submit their best practices in local democracy and collaborative-creation for the 17th edition of Best Practice in Citizen Participation award. This annual award acknowledges and celebrates outstanding initiatives and public policies in the realms of citizen participation, community engagement, democratic advancements, public discourse, and transparent governance.Bottom of Form
