And the Finalists are...

The AIPH World Green City Awards aim to recognize and celebrate bold and innovative nature-oriented approaches to city design and operation. The 2024 edition of the AIPH World Green City Awards is offered in seven categories, with three finalists in each category from which one category winner is selected, and with one Grand Winner chosen from the seven category winners. The Awards categories demonstrate the critical role of plants and nature, the “living green,” in providing urban solutions for:

  • Biodiversity and Urban Ecosystem Restoration
  • Climate Change
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Water
  • Social Cohesion and Inclusive Communities
  • Urban Infrastructure and Liveability
  • Urban Agriculture and Food Systems

Following the evaluation by a Technical Panel of 28 experts, 21 entries have been selected as Finalists. The list of 21 Finalists showcases inspiring urban greening initiatives by leading cities from around the world who are harnessing the power of plants and shaping a greener, healthier, and more resilient urban future.

The list of 21 Finalists has been delivered to the world-renowned Jury who will vote to select the winners. A special Youth Jury will also select from the 21 Finalists a shortlist of 3 entries and a winner of the first AIPH Youth Award.

The category winners, Youth Award winner, and Grand Winner of the AIPH World Green City Awards 2024 will be announced at a dedicated Awards Ceremony which will take the form of a high-level gala dinner. The occasion is set to be hosted on 25th September 2024 at the Future Green City World Congress, a four-day global event organized by the Royal Association Stadswerk the Netherlands, the Royal Dutch Society for Garden Designers and Landscapers (VHG), and the City of Utrecht.

The Congress will be held from September 23-26, 2024, at the Beatrix Theatre in Utrecht, with over 3,000 experts from around the world expected to attend and share their knowledge for shaping greener cities.
