In 1999, the UN General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conferenz of Ministers Responsible for Youth that 12 August be declared International Youth Day (IYD). The Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement.
The theme for IYD 2024 is From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development. The theme aims to amplify the message that action is needed across all generations to achieve the SDGs and leave no one behind.
