The program considers the needs of the different lifestyles existent in a city when planning urban development and building projects.
A single card, Gijon’s Citizen Card, allows Gijon's citizens to pay their bus fare, hire a bike and take out a library book. Today, 250,000 of Gijon’s citizens – 80% of the city’s population - carry this card, unlocking services and facilities across the city.
The program aims at modernizing and embellishing the city of Dakar while more than 1,500 employments can be created.
Through this participatory budgeting program, youth had the opportunity to collect ideas for capital projects, distill those ideas into concrete proposals, hold a city-wide vote to determine which projects get funded, and directly determine how $1 million is spent to improve Boston for everyone.
